It’s the end of the 12 Days of Anime. Now, we’ll be looking to the future…

Carryovers

• We have the extremely strong Mahoutsukai no Yome and its less-than-stellar accompanying short series MahoYome.
• I discovered one day that Garo – Vanishing Line – is available to me on Crunchyroll (even though at the start of the season I thought it wasn’t), so I might watch it someday, enough to participate in talks of it and talk of it.

The Rest (in Order of Hype, From Most Hypeable to Watchable)

• Zoku Touken Ranbu Hanamaru: I caught up on Hanamaru as Katsugeki was airing, and Hanamaru wins out of those two by a slight margin because it manages SoL and historical battles competently. Of course, I’m a former Touken Ranbu player, so that helps immensely.
• Junji Ito Collection: The titular man is known as a master of horror, and if I can’t get a Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service anime, this is the second-best thing. I’m only familiar with Demon Voice and Ito’s version of Ranpo Edogawa’s Human Chair though, so I can’t talk about source material with this one.
• Idolish7: The first two episodes have been released already, which is a daring move for a weekly anime and really gave it a leg up compared to the others. Its irregular number of episodes (17, including those 2) also works in its favour. I played a tiny bit of the game, but lost interest in it because I suck at rhythm games.
• Dame x Prince Anime Caravan: It has a silly name but it’s got a hardworking princess – which is a simple thing to do storytelling-wise, but a huge step above the standard flat otome heroines – and my favourite VA, Ume-chan, is involved. I heard of the source game after looking for more Ume-chan roles (long before the anime announcement), so I’d like to back this anime as much as possible.
• Saiki Kusuo no Sainan s2: I bingewatched this show’s first season after it aired, so I’m ready to follow Saiki weekly. Does this count as a short or a full-length episode show, though?
• Grancrest Senki: There’s one name that made me jump on this bandwagon – Mamoru Hatakeyama, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu‘s director. It seems fairly standard content though…and I’m not familiar with the source material.
• Miira no Kaikata (How to Keep a Mummy): I saw the little mummy on Comico when the only series from that website I was aware of were ReLIFE and an idol series known as Superstar wa Nemurenai, but I have no experience with the source manga itself. It’s got Keisuke Koumoto (Akihiko Beppu in Boueibu s2) though, so that’s another reason to watch.
• Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen: I didn’t watch Cardcaptor Sakura as a kid and haven’t seen much of the manga, so I might not be too interested in this for nostalgia value. It is, of course, a magical girl offering and probably better than Marchen Madchen, so that’s why it’s on my docket. Apparently you need to have seen the previous stuff to get this stuff, but I remember passing by the TV a few times while someone else was watching the show (a version that was Cantonese-dubbed) so I kinda know what happens. (As to why I don’t want Marchen Madchen, I can’t get behind the character designs for some reason…they’re just too loli-like.)
• Darling in the Frankxx: I like Star Driver and I’ve got Ume-chan again, so this could work for me.
• Gakuen Babysitters: I don’t like kids, but I get Ume-chan and fellow Boueibu costar Kotaro Nishiyama for this.
• Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody: I saw a synopsis in a KonoSuba LN and wanted to see it, at least for one episode.
• Kokkoku: I thought the synopsis was vaguely interesting after seeing the manga being picked up, so…there you go.

(Yeah, I go through some terrible things for my Ume-chan, but that’s the suffering of a person who wants to follow a voice actor.)

You’ll notice some titles are bolded – those are from the Funimation/Crunchyroll streaming catalogue…or they will join the catalogue soon.

Of course, the biggest limitation as always will be licensing, so like the last few seasons, it really just depends on how the Amazon/Netflix/Funiroll split happens for the shows that aren’t taken yet. (That’s also the reason why Violet Evergarden isn’t present in the list.)
